Light as a Feather: My Birthday Reset (Still 'settin' too)

Wrapping Up Work Before the Break

Last week, I was bustin’ my ass getting these orders out but I also refused to rush. My goal was to deliver all my work before my birthday, but if I didn’t, I wasn’t going to stress about it. I’d rather give people my best efforts…not my rushed efforts.

Welp, I was able to get all my work done so I could celebrate my birthday.

The way I wanted to.

Hot Damn. I Didn’t Realize How Bad I Was Overdue for a Break

This year has been A LOT. Between losing Aubry, dealing with health stuff (not my own), my city losing it’s damn mind (to be fair...I think I’m slowly losing the pretty marbles I have left too) and handling the uptick of work this year (I appreciate the uptick in orders!), I was in need of some R&R.

Okay, I’m getting jumbled. The point is, I wanted to go to NJ for my birthday and be as light as a feather, floating in the wind until October 30th. That wish came true. Very last minute but nonetheless...

Goin On My Lil’ Day Trip

So, Reign and I have been going to Atlantic City, NJ annually since 2019. 2019 was the first time I ever went to Atlantic City. I loved it. I usually enjoy the Ballys section of the boardwalk all the way down to Ocean Resort. However, it hurts to see that many of the local shops on the boardwalk are out of business.

The last time I went to AC was awhile ago (a little over a year), but my favorite arcade was closed down. I just did my research while typing this: there was a three-alarm fire under the boardwalk and unfortunately, Central Pier Arcade and Speedway suffered some serious damage.

Drinks, Laughs, and Skips

I finished both grown lady drinks BY MYSELF (that’s a big deal for a lightweight who started drinking at age 24 and still barely drinks now) and I was still able to skip about. Yes...yes, I was literally skipping about in AC.

When did the skipping begin? When we reached the boardwalk and MY FAVORITE FUCKING ARCADE WAS OPEN.

Initially, it was a few hops, tiptoe walking...and then skips.

The arcade no longer uses tokens for games. You upload money on the arcade card to play. I was all smiles at the arcade.

Of course, Reign kicked my ass in Connect 4. I won 75 tickets in one game/one spin! I forgot the name of it, but I remember the feeling of winning 75 tickets and yelling out “YES!” like I was 7 years old with my father at Fun Time USA in Sheepshead Bay.

Anyway, I played a few games and when it was time to get the total of my tickets, Reign gave me theirs too.

Rest, Play, and the Perfect Discounts

After the arcade, I enjoyed some other things… and stuff…. and wonderful junk that will not be disclosed but it was fun! We left home around 8 in the morning and returned around 8pm.

It was nice to just rest, play, have fun, other stuff, be near the water, laugh, shop and simply exist. I will say that the sales/discounts were right on time for my pockets! I literally paid 25% of what I would usually pay for the stuff I bought. I was aiming to just window shop!

I think I just popped a Starburst in my mouth before Reign snapped the shot lol. I went to the candy store too!

Sweet Endings

The day after my birthday, Biscuit and his hubby ordered me a slice of red velvet cake and chocolate chip cookies. Both were delicious!

I’m thankful for those who remembered, even with everything going on in their own lives. I’m thankful that I feel refreshed.
I let my inner child roam free and Reign is always the dope person to give me the space to simply be in all forms of me.

Slow Days Ahead

I’ve just been existing and resting since my birthday and I’m enjoying every last bit of it...‘cause once work starts again...sigh.

But thankfully, I do enjoy what I do.

Later, Lovelies
