I am thrilled to announce the arrival of Orange September, a poetry collection that delves deep into the essence of love and the transformative power it holds. In this heartfelt endeavor, I have strolled and shimmied on down personal exploration of being in love, navigating its complexities, and embracing vulnerability without a gate. When the connection is real and relationship is healthy, there is no need for a gate. I've written and published love poems before. But never a poetry collection filled to the brim with love and how my heart navigates what being in love is. Orange September is me being in love and going deeper and more committal as the years go by. I wanted to be one of the many poets who write a same-sex poetry collection where nobody dies and the deepest traumatic experiences don’t bleed throughout the collection.
The foundation of 'Orange September' is rooted in an unfortunate experience that I have been fortunate enough to transform into freedom, growth, and peace. With the unwavering support of my father, friends, and partner, I have channeled my emotions into a poetic project that celebrates the triumph of love over adversity. Although the collection does not explicitly delve into the traumatic experiences, their echoes resonate throughout, reminding us of the strength found in vulnerability.
The title 'Orange September' came to me during a poignant moment in my life. Sitting in my father's car, tears streaming down my face, I witnessed the beauty of autumn leaves falling in shades of brown and orange. It was September, a month filled with both melancholy and hope. It was in that very moment that the idea for 'Orange September' was born, a seed that would grow and evolve alongside me.
I have nurtured 'Orange September' with patience and intention, allowing it to mature organically over time. By December 2022/January 2023, I knew it was the right moment to release this collection, as it had grown in tandem with my own personal growth and experiences.
